Custom assets

Custom assets let you track anything that isn't a listed security — real estate, private equity, a business stake, gold, art, or collectibles.

  1. Go to Holdings and click Add holding.
  2. Choose Custom.
  3. Fill in a name, quantity, average cost per unit, currency, account, and purchase date — see the Custom fields section of Add holding for what each one means, including the optional dividend schedule and the cash-wallet deduction toggle.
  4. Optionally pick an Asset class under the name: Stocks & funds, Bonds, Cash & deposits, Crypto, Real estate, Precious metals or Other (the default).
  5. Save.

What the asset class does

The class decides where the asset shows up in your charts and filters. A custom asset marked Stocks & funds — say, a private fund — lands in the same stock slice of the allocation chart on the Dashboard as your listed shares, with the same colour and legend entry, and appears under the Stocks filter on Holdings. Real estate and Precious metals get slices of their own. Other looks exactly like custom assets always did.

The class only changes how the asset is grouped and labelled. It's still a custom asset: you price it yourself, and the transactions you can add to it don't change. You can change the class at any time — see Editing a custom asset.

Because there's no market price feed for custom assets, you update the value yourself whenever you have a new valuation. You can also manage them from the Custom page.
