How to add an account
An account is a bucket for related holdings — a brokerage, a bank account, a custody wallet, anything.
-
Go to Holdings.
-
Click Add account.
-
Fill in the fields:
- Name — required (e.g. "IBKR taxable", "Treasuries").
- Currency — the account's base currency. Transactions in other currencies are converted using the exchange rate on the transaction date — see language & currency.
The rest is optional and sits behind More options:
- Site URL (optional) — a broker or bank's website (e.g.
interactivebrokers.com); Skarbfolio uses that site's favicon as the account's icon instead of the color swatch. - Color — the accent swatch shown when there's no site icon.
- Tags (optional, up to 6) — free-form labels to group and filter accounts, e.g. by broker, goal, or family member. Pick a suggestion (+ more shows the rest) or type your own and press Enter.
- Note (optional) — anything you want to remember about what lives in this account.
-
Save — the account now appears in your Holdings list, ready for holdings and transactions.
Notes
- The icon beside the name shows how the account will look: the site's icon, or the color with the name's first letter.
- Tracking an on-chain crypto address? Use Add holding → Crypto → Paste a wallet address — see tracking crypto addresses.
- Every field here can be changed later — see How to edit or rename an account.
