A bond that isn't in the catalog

Any fixed-coupon bond — a European government bond, a corporate one, anything else — can be added from its terms. Its coupons and redemption then show up just like a catalog bond's.

  1. Go to Holdings, click Add holding and pick Bond.
  2. At the top, choose Other bond. (Searched the catalog and it isn't there? Click Enter it by hand under the search.)
  3. Fill in the Name, optionally the ISIN, the Currency and the Face value per bond.
  4. Enter the Coupon, % a year and how often it's paid — Coupon paid: monthly, quarterly, twice a year, once a year or only at maturity.
  5. Enter the Maturity date, the Number of bonds, the Price paid, % of face (100 is at face value) and the Purchase date.
  6. Below the fields you see what each coupon will bring. Save.

What happens next

  • Coupons and the redemption appear on Income, on the Overview and in coupon reminders. A coupon is face value × rate ÷ coupons a year; the dates count back from maturity.
  • When a coupon arrives, record it as a Coupon transaction — the expected payment disappears, even if the money came a few days early or late.
  • Value follows the price you paid (the holding page says "at face value" or "at purchase price") until you enter a newer one. Add a new price per bond on Custom — the Update price link on the holding page takes you there.

Not covered yet

  • Floating or inflation-linked coupons.
  • Interest accrued between coupons, yield to maturity and a market price chart.
  • Amortizing or callable bonds.

Polish savings bonds have a type of their own — see Polish savings bonds.
