Reading Analytics

Analytics starts with the question most people come for: how much of the change in your net worth is money you put in, and how much your investments earned. On the free plan you see the summary for the last 12 months; the rest of the board — your time-weighted return against an index, month-by-month results, allocation and the other widgets — is a Pro feature. See Billing & subscription.

The toolbar

The row above the board has three controls:

  • Whole portfolio — the scope picker. Search by ticker or name, or tick accounts and the assets inside them; the board then shows only your selection. When a search finds the same asset in two or more accounts, an All "…" row picks it in every account at once. Cash and address-synced crypto aren't in the list: a synced address keeps only its current balance, with no history to chart.
  • Edit board — move widgets up or down or hide them, then click Done.
  • Configure — choose the Benchmark index, turn Widgets on or off, or Reset layout.

Edit board and Configure only show while you're looking at the whole portfolio.

Performance

Everything in this section follows the period you pick: 1M, 3M, 6M, YTD, 1Y or All. The period buttons stay pinned under the header while you scroll through the section.

  • The summary card says how much your net worth grew or fell over the period and splits the change into Money you put in (or took out) and What your investments earned (or lost). Under it: your time-weighted return next to the benchmark over the same days, the coupons, dividends and interest you received, and your net worth today.
  • Risk & return — the period's return, the difference from the benchmark, the money-weighted and annualized returns, volatility and max drawdown.
  • Growth vs benchmark — how 100 would have changed in your portfolio and in the index, time-weighted.
  • Contributions vs growth — how much you put in over time, and how much it earned.
  • Monthly returns — the time-weighted return for each month.
  • Value over time — the mix of your portfolio month by month, stacked by Class or Account.

Composition

This section shows today, so the period buttons don't change it.

  • Allocation — where the money sits, by Type, Asset or Currency.
  • Include cash in the section's bar counts cash balances in the breakdown. Turn it off to see only your investments — a couple of currency balances can make a portfolio look more diversified than it is.

One position or a selection

Pick a single asset in the scope picker to see that position on its own: its value against what you paid, growth against the index or My portfolio, what you put in and what it earned, its contribution to the portfolio's return, its weight in the portfolio, monthly returns, drawdown and realized vs unrealized P&L. Periods longer than the position's history are struck through. Picking several assets or an account shows their combined history.

To go back, open the picker and choose Whole portfolio.
